I have a dream. Instead of grabbing public land to build affordable housing, why don’t we buy out some alfalfa farmers and build the kind of modest housing that was built after WWII? Homes that are 800-1000 square feet with carports and small yards with raised bed gardens and shade trees (not in hot, dry parking strips). A small park with picnic tables and playscapes can be shared and neighbors can form friendships.

The COJCOLDS can build temples with pre-fab materials, so why can’t affordable housing be constructed with pre-fab units to reduce construction costs? Homes can be built to conserve energy (solar panels and batteries) and water (drip irrigation for gardens and trees and mulch instead of grass).
